AN OPEN LETTER TO OUR DAUGHTER

Dear Jacquelyn Elena,

Did you know that your father and I loved you long before you were born? And there’s no way to really tell you how much your father and I love you. You have changed our lives so fast - the day we have found out we were pregnant! We can tell you, we were terrified at first, but, for sure, your father and I would do the same over again, just to have you. You brings so much happiness in our lives!

The moment I first held you in my arms, I realized how blessed I am to have you. You are everything I never knew I always wanted. You are so perfect since the day you came to this world. A very healthy baby! You did not cry a lot when you first got out from mommy’s tummy! You are one brave baby! We are so proud of you. And when your eyes meet mine, my heart swells with pure joy and unexplainable gladness.

Our love for you is unconditional. No way you will ever possibly understand until you become a mother. My specifically love for you, I cannot contain. Your father and I will try our best to make you feel loved every second. We promise to keep you safe, forever and ever..

The first two weeks we went home with you... I just can’t stop checking on you, admiring you, watching you. At night, when you would not sleep in your bassinet, I just hold you sleeping comfortably in my arms ‘til you wake up. During naps, I find myself holding you well past the time I could have put you back down. You were so comfortable. They say, “you should sleep, while your baby sleeps”. I tried, but sometimes I cannot. You stole my heart. I just stare at your sleeping face in awe, so serene. The faces you make, your breathing, those sweet noises and your warmth that you give while I am holding you. These moments, you cannot buy them. They are priceless and irreplaceable. I want to keep these moments, so I will cherish and enjoy them and give up sleep just to hold you, smell that sweet head of yours and watch you smile right in my arms as you enjoy your dream.

Your father has been so much in loved with you. He was scared to hold you at first because you were so little. He was so scared to hurt you, but he still held you. I fell in loved more with your dad when I saw how he became a father to you.

You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. You will hear I Love You’s from your father and I, everyday, for the rest of your life. And please do not get tired hearing it. Even in the hard times, or the sudden shift into our lives, there’s nothing I could ever possibly reverse or change. Nothing I would rather be doing than this. Thank you for coming into our lives! You are everything I ever wished for and the sweetest gift I’ve ever received.

I’ll skip meals, stay in pj’s all day, wear my face bare, or miss showers, just to make sure you receive the best care; safe and happy!

You’re the best thing that has ever happened to me, my greatest achievement. Dreams do come true! There is nothing more important in this world than this little family we have become. Your father and I love you very much. We never imagined how wonderful life with you would be and we cannot seem to grasp what we did before you got here. We know you love us too. You are very sweet, kind and loving baby! An every mother could ask for! You are unbelievably calm, rarely cries too! The way you let us know through little looks, smiles, and squeals that you’re paying attention and you know who we are. You are very smart baby! When you were about four months, you already called me Mama. The next month after, you also called your father Papa. You made us both happy. Being with you is the most rewarding thing you could ever give us.

Everything about you is perfect. You are beautiful; fearfully and wonderfully made. You are just so wonderful. Every day with you is filled with wonder, excitement and love. Every moment is a new adventure, every week is a challenge. You are so so loved. We are blessed that we got so much more than what we asked for. You amaze us each and every day.

You are so blessed to meet your great grandparents! I wish we could have given you a chance to meet your lolo, he would have been so happy and proud to meet you! Your grandparents and lola - you give them so much joy! You are their happy pill!

Thank you, sweet angel princess for being ours and being immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine. We maybe are not rich, but we will make sure that your needs will be provided. Or maybe we, your parents are not perfect, but we will make sure we learn how to be patience, understanding and loving. A role model to you. We promise to protect, guide and support you whenever you need us. We will be here for you, no matter what. We will love you forever, even if you’re right or wrong. It will never ever change! As long as we are both alive, you can count on us.

Yet for now, do not grow up fast! Please need your mother forever! The feeling that you are giving me is truly amazing! I have never been so much proud or confident about myself, only when I became a mother. Thank you baby! I hope we become best friends when you grow up. I will listen to everything you would like to share with Momma. I will always listen and understand, I wish to be your confidant. Life has good and bad times. I cannot promise to fix all problems you might face but you will never ever be alone.
